FAQ
What happened to R Family Farms?
R Family Farms is alive and well! It’s the farm that started it all. We launched Territory Trading Company to bring more variety to your table — uniting trusted family farms who raise beef, bison, lamb, poultry, and pork with the same care and standards. You’ll still find R Family Farms’ Berkshire pork here, now alongside other premium meats.
What makes Berkshire pork different?
Berkshire pigs are known for their rich marbling, tenderness, and deep flavor. That’s why chefs worldwide call it the “wagyu of pork.” You can learn more about Berkshire pork here.
Do you offer Wagyu or Akaushi beef?
Yes! We partner with farms raising Wagyu and Akaushi — breeds famous for their buttery marbling and melt-in-your-mouth texture. See more about Wagyu & Akaushi here.
What is Piedmontese beef?
Piedmontese cattle are an Italian breed naturally leaner yet still tender thanks to a unique genetic trait. That means you get protein-rich beef without sacrificing flavor. Read more about Piedmontese beef here.
Where does your bison come from?
Our bison is raised on open Kansas pastures, producing naturally lean, slightly sweet meat. Bison is lower in fat but packed with nutrients. Learn more about bison here.
Do you carry lamb?
Yes — sourced from small family ranches. Our lamb is pasture-raised, producing mild, tender cuts perfect for roasting or grilling. More about lamb here.
What about your poultry?
We offer pastured chicken and turkey, raised outdoors with fresh air, space, and access to natural forage. Poultry lovers can learn more here.
Are your animals raised humanely?
Yes. Every partner farm shares a commitment to animal welfare — space to move, daily care, proper shelter, and clean feed. Healthy, low-stress animals mean better food.
Do you farm sustainably?
Sustainability is central to our model:
-
Crops and livestock are integrated (what we grow feeds our animals, and composted manure feeds our soil).
-
Practices like cover cropping, rotational grazing, and no-till farming protect our land.
-
Packaging is 100% compostable or recyclable, using cornstarch-based insulation instead of styrofoam.
How does shipping work?
We ship nationwide using dry ice and GreenCell insulation. Orders are vacuum-sealed, frozen at peak freshness, and shipped weekly. You’ll receive tracking info when your box leaves our farm.
Where do you ship?
We ship nationwide across the continental U.S. (48 states). At this time, we are unable to ship to Alaska, Hawaii, or internationally due to transit times and cold chain requirements.
How often do you ship?
We ship out once a week (usually early in the week, Monday–Wednesday) so your order doesn’t risk sitting in a carrier warehouse over the weekend. You’ll receive tracking information as soon as your box leaves our farm.
How is the meat packaged?
-
Every cut is vacuum-sealed and frozen at peak freshness.
-
Orders are packed in recyclable cardboard boxes with GreenCell Foam insulation (made from cornstarch — compostable, water-soluble, and landfill safe).
-
Boxes are packed with dry ice to keep everything fully frozen until it arrives at your door.
Is your packaging eco-friendly?
Yes!
-
GreenCell Foam insulation replaces styrofoam and is 100% compostable or water-dissolvable.
-
Cardboard boxes and plastics are fully recyclable.
-
We’re committed to sustainability from farm to packaging.
How long will my order stay frozen in transit?
Orders are designed to stay frozen 48–72 hours after shipping, even in hot weather. Our cold chain audits (yes, we test them!) ensure that meat arrives frozen or refrigerator-cold at your door.
What if my order arrives thawed?
-
Slight surface thawing is normal, especially on small items like bacon or sausage, and is safe to refreeze.
-
If your order arrives warm to the touch or above 40°F, take pictures and contact us immediately. We guarantee safe delivery.
Why is there a minimum order amount?
Frozen meat shipping requires specialized packaging and dry ice. A minimum order ensures:
-
Enough weight to hold temperature
-
Efficient use of packaging
-
Lower environmental impact
This helps us deliver meat safely while keeping shipping costs reasonable.
Do I need to be home to receive my order?
Nope! Your box is packed to stay frozen until you get home later in the day. We recommend unpacking and freezing as soon as possible, especially in hot climates.
How much does shipping cost?
Shipping varies by weight and distance. We work hard to keep costs fair and often subsidize part of the cost ourselves. Exact shipping charges will show at checkout before you confirm your order.
When will my order arrive?
-
Most orders arrive within 1–3 days of shipping.
-
Rural addresses may take longer depending on the carrier.
-
You’ll always get a tracking email so you can follow your box’s journey.
Can I schedule a delivery date?
We can’t guarantee exact delivery days (since carriers control final drop-off), but if you have a special request — like needing your order after a vacation — email us and we’ll do our best to time it right.
What happens if I enter the wrong address?
Please double-check your shipping address before placing your order! Incorrect addresses can delay your shipment, and we can’t always guarantee replacement on perishable goods. If you realize there’s an error, contact us right away so we can adjust before your order ships.
Do you ship wholesale/bulk orders differently?
Yes — larger wholesale orders may be shipped on pallets with freight carriers instead of parcel carriers. If you’re interested in bulk or wholesale, reach out to arrange details.
What if I need to change or cancel my order?
Contact us quickly — once a box is packed, changes aren’t possible. We’ll do our best to catch it in time.
Do you sell wholesale or bulk?
Yes! We work with restaurants, retailers, and bulk buyers. Contact us for custom pricing.
Who will I hear from if I reach out?
Almost always: Emily or Kaden Roush — the farm family who started it all. No call centers, no robots, just real people who love talking about good food.
Still have questions?
Email, call, or message us anytime. We’ll point you to the right farm, the right cut, and the right recipe.
