Shipping Standards

Territory Trading Company ships premium farm-direct meats nationwide and takes cold-chain seriously. Every order is reviewed against the calendar and transit time so it doesn’t get stranded in a warehouse over a weekend.

Why Shipping from the Center of the U.S. Matters

Our central U.S. distribution facility is located smack dab in the middle of the contiguous 48, which makes us a natural fit for nationwide cold shipping—shorter lanes to more places, fewer “edge-of-the-map” transit scenarios, and a more predictable delivery network.

Shipping Days

  • Orders ship Monday–Wednesday

  • Each shipment is timed based on your estimated delivery window and current conditions.

  • In the rare case your best ship date needs to be adjusted to protect product quality, we’ll ship on the next appropriate day.

Carriers

  • Orders ship via UPS unless otherwise indicated.

Cold Packaging (How We Keep It Cold)

  • Spring / Summer / Fall: shipped with dry ice

  • Deep winter: may ship with ice packs when conditions allow

  • We ship in Green Cell Foam insulation by TemperPack:

    • Made from plant-based, starch-derived material (designed to replace traditional foam)

    • Curbside recyclable in many communities (check local guidelines)

    • No bulky styrofoam coolers to manage

What to Expect on Arrival

Your meat ships frozen and may arrive:

  • Frozen

  • Firmly cold with some surface thaw

  • Partially thawed

This can be normal in frozen shipping—especially at the edges of packages—depending on season and delivery speed.

Good news: It is perfectly acceptable to refreeze thawed meat. (Quality is best when it stays colder, but refreezing is common and expected in shipped frozen food.)

Transit Zones (Typical Delivery Speed)

Transit time varies by location:

  • Kansas + parts of Eastern Missouri: typically 1-day

  • Midwest + Front Range: typically 2-day

  • Coastal regions + very rural Midwest: typically 3-day

  • Upper New England: can extend to 4-day

(Delivery estimates are provided at checkout and through tracking once your order ships.)

Pro Tip: The “Thermal Mass” Cheat

Here’s the honest secret to receiving frozen meat: the more pounds you order, the easier it stays cold.
Think of it like thawing a whole holiday ham or turkey versus a single pound of ground beef—bigger mass warms up slower. Larger orders tend to arrive colder and hold temperature better in transit.

As a bonus, larger purchases often unlock free shipping, which can drastically lower your cost per pound.

Tracking

You’ll receive an email with tracking as soon as your order ships. We recommend keeping an eye on tracking so you can bring your package inside promptly.

When Your Box Arrives

  • Bring it inside as soon as possible.

  • Unpack and place items in your freezer right away.

Delivery Issues / Our Quality Promise

If anything arrives damaged, incorrect, or you believe it’s unsafe, contact us within 24 hours of delivery.

Best way to check temperature: use an instant-read thermometer placed between two packages of meat (not against the outside of the box). This gives you the most useful “real product” reading.

When reaching out, please include:

  • Your order number

  • Photos of the product(s)

  • Photos of the inside packaging/insulation (and dry ice/ice packs if present)

We stand behind what we ship and will make it right with a replacement or refund when warranted.
